K: Hey,Oz How're you doing?
O: Hey 柯南. I’m doing super. How're you doing?
K: I’m doing great, but I am really looking forward to the middle of the month?
O: Really? Why? What’s happening?
K: You don’t know? It’s the Dragon Boat Festival in China. It’s one of the oldest and most traditional Chinese Festivals.
O: I have heard some amazing things about this festival, but can you tell me more? I'm really interested in this festival. When and how do you celebrate it?
K: The Dragon Boat Festival, the 5th of May in lunar month, has had a history of more than 2,000 years.
O: 2000 YEARS? That’s a long time. Hang on, lunar calendar ? that’s in two weeks?
K: Yeh, it’s just around the corner.
O: OK, and how do you celebrate it?
K: Well, we’re gonna eat Zongzi as a traditional food on that day and there’re many dragon boat racings happening all over China, which is really exciting.
O: Kenan, What is Zongzi?
K: It’s glutinous rice dumpling with many different ingredients like bean paste, dates, meat and nuts.
O: Sounds delicious. You’re making me hungry now. I have to try this Zongzi. What about the dragon boat racing? Can you tell me anything about this?
K: Dragon boats are named because the fore and stern of the boat is in a shape of traditional Chinese dragon. A team of people works the oars in a bid, to reach the destination before other teams.
O: Wow, sounds really amazing. I really want to see this racing. Oh,hang on, I just used Baidu, and have seen some other traditions and customs, such as hanging up icons of Zhong Kui, hanging mugwort and calamus, taking long walks, and wearing perfumed medicine bags.
K: Yeah, yeah, all of these activities together with the drinking of realgar wine, were regarded by the ancients as effective, in preventing disease or evil, while promoting health and well being.
O: Kenan, let’s wish the all the Students of SuperA and all the Chinese people a very happy Dragon Boat Festival. Enjoy time with family and friends.
